This was my first piece created during my BonSol residency. I had a crystal clear vision for this painting one morning early on during my time in Mallorca. I woke up remembering flowers I had admired on my first walk around the area - 3 really vividly coloured hibiscus and this amazing overgrown bougainvillea - half vibrant purple, half wilting ochre. I knew I wanted to go back and pick them, photograph them and paint a really bold background inspired by the bountiful bougainvillea. Et Voilá.
